Dave Troyer - Director of Golf

Dear Members,
With plenty of playable days in January and full fields in both of the MGA & BLGA's first events of the year, 2024 is off to a great start!
Here are the things from the Golf Operation that you need to know this month:
2024-2025 CART STICKERS - REMINDER
The deadline to get your cart stickers updated will be March 31st, 2024. Please bring your cart to the Golf Shop at your convenience, and one of our staff members will be happy to get your stickers updated. If you do not plan to renew your cart sticker, or you sell your cart, please make sure to return your current sticker to the Golf Shop so we can keep our records updated. Thank you for your cooperation.
2024 GUEST PASSES
The 2024 Guest Passes are now available for purchase. On the Country Club side, a package of 10 is available for $500 + tax, cart fee not included. At Grand Pines, a package of 8 is available for $720 + tax and each round includes the cart fee. Guest Packages will be available for purchase until September 30th. By purchasing a Guest Package, the Member understands that all of the rounds are not transferable to non-golf members and all rounds are non-refundable. A Bentwater Golf Member must accompany all Guests. All Guest Passes will expire on December 31st, 2024, so make sure to plan accordingly for your Guest needs.
OPEN ROUNDS
Many of you may not be aware, but one of the benefits of being a Golf Member at Bentwater is having the ability to access play at many other private clubs around the country. Although the Professional Staff is always willing to call others Club on your behalf, a company called Open Rounds has made the process of reciprocal play at other Private Clubs much easier with their "Pro-to-Pro" booking platform. As a Golf Member at Bentwater, you can register for a free account with Open Rounds. Once Bentwater verifies your golf privileges, you will be able to login and gain access to over 500 private courses nationwide, with the ability to request a tee time at the Club of your choice. For more information, visit www.openrounds.com.
BENTWATER GOLF ACADEMY UPDATE

In addition to private lessons with the PGA Golf Professionals at Bentwater, we will be launching Operation 36 Golf to facilitate all of our group programming including Junior, Women's, and Men's camps and clinics. The system is designed to introduce players to the game of golf and provide them with a roadmap to success that will help them improve and stay engaged with the game for a lifetime. COURSE CARE DURING THE WINTER - REMINDER
With the trees and grass dormant, it is more important than ever for EVERY golfer to do their part to take care of and protect the golf courses. When the grass is dormant, the damage that golfers do does not heal. From divots to ball marks, to cart traffic, failure to do your part can have severe repercussions on the overall conditioning during the winter. It is in everyone's best interest to make sure that when you play, you are filling your divots, repairing your ball marks, following the cart rules, being sensitive to where you drive your carts on the non-cart path only days, pairing up in carts, and raking bunkers.
Please make sure that you are keeping course conditioning and what you can do to help at the forefront of your mind this winter. The courses and your fellow members will appreciate your efforts!
Have a great February, and as always, remember to rake the traps, fill your divots, fix your ball marks, and post all your acceptable scores to GHIN. We look forward to seeing you at the Club!

We are excited to announce that we have booked an exclusive TaylorMade fitting experience on Tuesday, February 13, 2024 at the Bentwater Practice Range, where all members will have the opportunity to go through a custom club fitting.
An expert club fitter will help you optimize your equipment and ultimately perform better on the golf course with the help of the latest TaylorMade technology.

2024-2025 PRIVATE CART REGISTRATION STICKERS
The Golf Shop is applying new Cart Registration Stickers to all Private Carts through March 31st, 2024.
With nearly 800 private golf carts, in order to best serve everyone, we are asking that you call the Golf Shop (936-597-2520) prior to coming to change out your sticker to make sure someone will be available to take care of you.
For the 2024-2025 cycle, we will be issuing two (2) stickers. The first sticker will be the cart number that will stay with the cart as long as the member elects to keep the cart on the trail fee plan….much like a license plate. The new numbering system will allow the Club a much more accurate and efficient way of tracking the authorized private carts on the golf courses.
The second sticker we will issue will be the sticker denoting the time frame the cart is authorized to be on the golf course. If you are Grand Pines/Country Club Member, you will receive a blue sticker that matches the cart number sticker.
Masters Members will receive an orange sticker.
Beginning in 2026, Members will only need to change out the year stickers if they plan on renewing their trail fee.
If you do not plan on renewing your cart sticker, or you sell your cart, please make sure to return your current sticker to the Golf Shop so we can keep our records updated. Thank you for your cooperation.

THE LAUNCH MONITOR
It's been said, "Golf is what the ball does, which is entirely dependent upon what the club is doing at impact." This is probably the simplest explanation for why Launch Monitors are so incredibly helpful to the average golfer. They provide numerous data points, corrective action items, and useful information you can put to practice out on the course. If you can't measure something, you can't manage it.
So stop by the Golf Shop to schedule your time with the Launch Monitor today!
HERE'S HOW IT WORKS
Set-up an appointment with a Pro and they will provide a full analysis of your swing and the individual golf clubs in your bag. Using the Launch Monitor's precise calculations and your particular body mechanics, the Pro will custom fit you with the right club for your game. You can analyze a full set or partial set of Clubs, depending on your needs:
$50 - Launch Monitor analysis of your irons & woods. (45 minutes)
$100 - Full club fitting of irons and woods with Launch Monitor analysis of all clubs given. (60 to 75 minutes)
Call Bentwater Golf Shop to schedule your appointment today.
